Professional-quality sterling silver-filled wire has a high-perceived value at a fraction of the cost of sterling silver. Sterling silver-filled square wire has a durable outer layer of sterling silver bonded around a copper-alloy core, then given an anti-tarnish coating. Sterling silver-filled wire handles like sterling silver and can be soldered. Half-hard wire is malleable; however, it will maintain an intricate shape under stress. Cut ends of wire may show copper-alloy core.
For optimal results, use nylon jaw pliers or pliers dipped in Tool MagicĀ® heavy-duty rubber coating when working with sterling silver-filled wire to prevent scratching or marring. Contains 10% silver, 1/10 silver filled.
