Shipping Information

Our shipping Policy is to keep our product prices as low as possible and charge customers just the actual costs based on the weight of your order, and the postage method you have selected.  
We do not profit on shipping costs or charge handling fees.  We do not insure packages unless you request this in the comments box at checkout – we will then contact you with the cost and arrange extra payment (1% of order value plus $1.00 admin charge to cover bank fees).
If shipping seems excessive please query it – we do however re-weigh and re-calculate shipping costs after each order is packed and if an overpayment has occured we will issue a credit.

Shipping Turnaround Time

We ship orders as quickly as possible in the order they are received.  Orders will normally be shipped within 2-5 business days depending on the volume we are receiving.  
At certain busy times of the year processing may be 4-5 days (we have a note on our site regarding the current waiting time) 
If an item is out of stock or unavailable, you will be contacted to advise how long it is likely to be & it will either be refunded or backordered.  

Please note that if you select Express Post it refers to the postal method rather than the speed of processing by us.   If you need an order very urgently for a deadline add a note in the comments box at the time of ordering to let us know and will always endeavour to get your order off to you asap.  We do our best to get orders off as quickly as possible but peak times of the year such as Easter, Mothers Day & August-December (Christmas period) extra time is required due to high volume of orders so please allow 4-5 days.  We have a banner on our website on every page which advises the current processing time for new order.  Picking orders is a very time consuming process as many items have to be weighed, counted and packaged so we do appreciate your patience with us when we are busy.

Options within Australia

1. Parcel Post with Tracking & Signature on Delivery (via Australia Post E-Parcel)

Generally 1-4 days within Melbourne once shipped, 3-5 business days to Sydney, Adelaide or Canberra, approx 5-7 to Brisbane, approx 7-14 days to Perth or remote areas

Rates:  Shipping costs are automatically generated by our E-Parcel postage calculator at checkout as it is linked to Australia Post.  Rates will vary according to weight and where you are located.  This is usually the most economical postage method however it does take longer than Express Post.  For bulky orders to areas outside main cities this is the most economical option.

There is an option at checkout to waive signature on delivery however please note that if this option is selected you also waive the right to claim for any lost orders that are insured once delivered.  If you have special requests as to where you would like an order left please write these in the comments box at checkout so tht we can add them to your label.

When orders are shipped by E-Parcel you will receive email tracking updates automatically from Australia Post on shipping and when it is due to be delivered.

Insurance:  Please note that this postage method is not insured so if you do want to cover it against loss or damage in the postal system please add a note in the comments box at the time of ordering so that we can send you an invoice for the extra amount owing.  Insurance is calculated at 1% of the value of your order plus $1.00 admin fee to cover bank charges.  It is extremely rare that orders go missing in when shipped by E-Parcel however it can still occur.  We cannot take responsibility for losses once your order is shipped unless insurance is requested and paid for.

2. Express Post with Tracking & Signature on Delivery (via Australia Post E-Parcel)

Next business day to main centres within Express Post network - 2 business days to Metro Perth, WA & longer to remote areas. This method is fast & reliable & insured, however please allow for our processing time on top of shipping time as per estimate on banner top of our website pages.

There is an option at checkout to waive signature on delivery however please note that if this option is selected you also waive the right to claim for any lost orders that are insured once delivered.  The cost will not alter if Signature on Delivery is waived.  If you have special requests as to where you would like an order left please write these in the comments box at checkout so tht we can add them to your label.

Insurance:  Please note that this postage method is not insured so if you do want to cover it against loss or damage in the postal system please add a note in the comments box at the time of ordering so that we can send you an invoice for the extra amount owing.  Insurance is calculated at 1% of the value of your order plus $1.00 admin fee to cover bank charges.  It is extremely rare that orders go missing in when shipped by E-Parcel however it can still occur.  We cannot take responsibility for losses once your order is shipped unless insurance is requested and paid for.

Return to Sender:
Please check your address carefully when placing an order.  If an order is returned to sender due to an incorrect address being entered by the customer, the sender (Over the Rainbow) is charged a return to sender penalty fee of $11.00 per parcel by Australia Post.  If this occurs we will need to recoup this cost from the customer as well as the cost to re-ship the order.

Dangerous Goods:  Inflammable goods such as aerosols, alcohol inks and resins cannot be shipped outside Victoria by Express Post due to airline regulations - these items have a note on them when you make your purchase which indicates No Express Post. They will need to go by Parcel Post.

3. Express Post – Signature on Delivery (Flat Rate Satchels)

Express Post Flat Rate Satchel with guaranteed next day delivery after shipping (please allow processing time to shipping time) to postcodes listed on the Australia Post Express Network.  This method is  trackable with signature on delivery however email updates are not available.  If you would like a tracking number after the order is shipped please request that in the comments box at checkout. 

For orders shipped by this method there is no signature on delivery or insurance added however if you prefer this to be added please note that in the comments box – it will entail an extra charge of $2.95 plus cost of insurance.
Please note that if you select this method and do not request Signature on Delivery or Insurance we cannot be responsible for any loss or damage to your package as it is at your own risk.

Flat rate satchels can work out less than the E-Parcel Express option listed above if you are outside major cities and are having an order over 500gm shipped. 

Rates:  These are generated at checkout via Australia Post for 3 satchel sizes depending on the weight of your order – 500gm, 3kg & 5kg.  If orders are over 5kg this option will not appear. We may still be able to ship in multiple satchels however so the best thing is to select the Parcel Post or Express Post E-Parcel option and contact us to see if we are able to ship by flat rate satchels.

4. Store Pickup

As a service to our local customers orders can be picked up at our reception at a prescheduled time with at least 2 business days notice.  Please note that we are a warehouse not a retail store and as such we must impose limitations on pick-ups:
Orders for pick-up will be packed prior to your arrival. We cannot change contents or add items while you wait.
Visitors may not enter the warehouse section of the building.
Visitors may not request employees to retrieve merchandise from the warehouse for review.
Orders for pick-up must meet all normal sales terms and conditions.  
To arrange store pickup please email or call us on 03 9785 3800 before you place your order and we will give you instructions on how to put through the order without shipping being added.

International Orders

Australia Post E-Parcel Air Mail

Australia Post E-Parcel is the shipping method that we use for international orders however to reduce the likelihood of loss or theft in transit we will always send your order with tracking using the most applicable method to your country).  You will be given a choice of methods available for your particular country at checkout.  If you have special delivery instructions for your package or request insurance to be added, please make a note in the comments box at checkout.

SPECIAL FLAT RATE TO NEW ZEALAND, USA & CANDA - Australia Post currently has a special E-Parcel Express Courier International rates to 5 countries:
Up to 2kg to New Zealand - $17.00 
Up to 2kg to USA or Canada – $32.00
Up to 2kg to China or Japan – $27.00

As long as your order is under 2kg you will be able to select this option at checkout. Insurance not included. 
For other countries there are many E-Parcel options avavilable which will be listed at checkout – Registered Post International & Pack & Track.   We ship only by methods which have tracking available to reduce likelihood of loss or incorrect delivery.

Insurance is not available for all countries, but for countries where is it available rates are based on the value of the order.  Insurance can be added to international packages by request at the time of ordering If you do not request insurance we cannot be responsible for loss or damage. Please request this in the comments box at checkout and we will advise of the cost and arrange payment – cost is 1% of the order value plus $1.00 admin fee to cover bank charges..  If you request an order to be left without signature if not home it will invalidate insurance so no claim will be possible.
Postage can sometimes vary from the amount charged at checkout - if this occurs we will contact you to let you know any additional costs or refund any overpaid amount.

Disclaimer

Over the Rainbow takes no responsibility for loss or damage of your order in the postal system if you have not requested insurance or if you have waived the signature on delivery option

If you would like your order covered for loss or damage please request this in the comments box at checkout and we will add it to your order after advising of costs and arranging the extra payment.  The cost of insurance is 1% of the order value pllus $1.00 to cover bank fees.

If you have requested that yor order be safe dropped, left if not home or for a signature not to be required at delivery, this will invalidate insurance so no claim for loss or damage will be possible.

If an item becomes lost in the postal system, is wrongly delivered or damaged Over the Rainbow will lodge an investigation on the customers’ behalf with Australia Post and assist with any claim.  Following the investigation, if Australia Post deems the order lost or damaged compensation will only be possible if insurance has been requested by the customer at checkout.  

Over the Rainbow will not replace the order, refund the cost or issue a credit for the order if insurance has not been requested.  In some circumstances Australia Post may offer a maximum $50 compensation payment if it can be proven that loss or damage was their fault, however this is assessed by Australia Post on a case by case basis.

In rare instances shipping costs can work out more expensive than calculated.  If this occurs we will contact the customer to discuss the options and either change to a cheaper postage method or invoice for the extra amount owing depending customer preferences.
