Soutache cord is used by jewellery makers to work beads and cord together to form a flowing/eye-catching piece that incorporates bead and herringbone cord, in a multitude of design possibilities and colours. It was originally developed by the upholstery & fashion industries for adding trim to designs. It is a flat cord with a ridge down the centre.
Our cord is made in the USA by Beadsmith & is made from Polyester which is an entirely synthetic fiber. It takes colour beautifully so, our polyester braid is available in brighter colours. The sheen is slightly duller than that of the rayon. Please note the entire line of BeadSmith Soutache was designed by a textile jewellery artist for textile jewellery artists so tremendous attention was paid to consistency of width, thickness and drape so, the rayon and polyester braid can be used together successfully.
If using as a stringing cord you can finish off the ends using cord crimp ends for 2mm sized cord (FOC-1)
