The interchangeable brass head is softer than steel stamps so will dent when stamping to prevent stamps from jumping and causing duplicate impressions. This is normal and always the case with stamping hammers.
The interhcangeable nylon had is highly durable and can be used to smooth and harden wire and for striking precision tools to protect them from damage.
The Chrome-Plated Head is fixed in position and ideal for general household use.
Coated handle reduces vibration.
